30MF Class up armor
Liber Warrior kit review

Kit info

Story

This is a CLASS Ⅲ job requiring those who aim to attain it to be professional fighters with advanced combat skills and a robust physique. Those with this job are required to have the skills to heavily damage enemies using sturdy axes while protecting their allies with round shields. It is a job for veteran warriors who can flexibly change tactics according to combat situations and efficiently cooperate with allies.

What's in the box (sprues and other parts)

OJ3-A1 [Brown]

OJ3-A2 [Brown]

OJ3-B1 [Red]

OJ3-B2 [Clear orange]

All sprues are labeled 30MF Warrior (ウォーリア) and judging from the precedent examples of Knight variant classes it's very likely that the sprues will be shared with upcoming Rosan Warrior class up armor kit. A1/2 sprue are consist of very standard class up armor parts while B1 sprue is unique in that it contains additional cloth parts of the armor reproduced in red plastic. B2 includes a single elemental core part.

Detailed Parts Review

Every parts included in the kit are laid out in this picture.

You get a new faceplate that replaces the Fighter class mask parts and also unique decorative plume that attaches to the back of the helm.

Included spaulders will replace the Fighter class spaulders. The chest armor adds on top of preexisting Fighter class chest piece, thus making the torso even beefier.

Unique to the Warrior class, a cloth mantle reproduced in red plastic is provided. It uses a adaptor piece to attach to the back armor.

The waist section receives additional armor on all sides, along with a reproduction of decorative fabric in red plastic on both the front and back.

Poleyns are extended even bigger by attaching add-on parts on to Fighter class poleyns.

The axe and the shield also gets some extension parts. The axe gets extended so much it almost becomes a halberd.

Conclusion

The Warrior class up armor kit adds more bulk and heft to the already thicc Liber Fighter thus making it a (more) imposing frontline melee unit. The unique feature of this kit is depiction of decorative fabric parts that give the kit unique appearance. The weapon extension also gives the axe great extension making it into a giant polearm (halberd), which is also first in 30MF series.

My only gripe is that the choice of brown somewhat clash with white/light gray color of base silhouette and fighter armor. I understand Bandai's reason behind choosing somewhat different color for new class, but the kit would look much better if overall color was more harmonized. I think painting some of the underlying parts also brown will greatly improve the look of the Warrior.

I'm not going to complain about lack of supply again in this review. (You already know that). I'm just going to note that this kit is also available in a set overseas (meaning outside of Japan) as Liber Warrior kit, which includes both the Liber Fighter kit and the Warrior class up armor. If you can't find class up armor kit in stock, you might want to go for the combination set. The set is more readily available in my experience.

Anyways, this is another fun addition to Bandai's growing 30MF lineup. If you managed to snatch the Fighter kit then getting this kit is a no-brainer considering very affordable price. Even if you don't have the fighter kit, unique cloth parts should be very useful for many customization projects.
